Research Minor - Mathematics

Students who have completed at least 17 semester hours of the Required Core for the Mathematics Major with an average grade point of 3.0 and who have permission from their faculty mentor will be admitted into the Research minor. A student who does not pursue a Mathematics major but wishes to obtain a minor in research with a mathematics emphasis must complete the Required Core of the Mathematics major.

Note - Research
The student will pick a faculty mentor based on research interests, and the mentor and student together will choose two other faculty to serve on the student’s committee. An oral presentation of the research results is required. The faculty mentor will determine the appropriate seminar, colloquium, symposium, or conference for the student’s oral presentation.
Supportive Electives: 9-12 semester hours
Courses must have the approval of the student’s research committee and the School Chair or College Dean.
