The Physical Science major is a collaborative major shared by Black Hills State University and other SD BOR institutions.  Courses not offered at BHSU are available through face-to-face delivery at SD School of Mines, or online from other SD regental universities.

The Physical Science major is designed to offer students unique educational experiences not offered by traditional physical science majors, through 12 credit hours of research, internship, special topics classes, and seminar.  Students have the opportunity to interact directly with the Sanford Underground Research Facility through the BHSU Underground Campus, and gain understanding of the Majorana project and LUX-ZEPPLIN dark matter hunt.  Additional opportunities include National Science Foundation supported research including Research Experiences for Undergraduates, and placement with various agencies after graduation.  These professional experiences will provide students with long-term career benefits through the development of technical skills, and unique perspectives and professional networking.
