Environmental physical science is a field of study that includes study of environmental problems such as water quality and management, contaminant chemistry and monitoring, land reclamation, waste treatment, land-use planning, soil testing, hazardous waste disposal and energy management and production.

Required Core - 37 semester hours
Take three courses from the following eight courses:
- GEOE 322 - Structural Geology (at SDSM&T)
Take two courses from the following five courses:

Take one course and corresponding lab (if applicable) from the following or other courses with the prefix GEOL/GEOE/MATH from above - can not duplicate from above Gen Ed Requirements - 32 semester hours
- ENGL 101
- ENGL 201
- SPCM - Gen Ed - Speech (1 class) - 3 semester hours
- Gen Ed - Social Science (3 classes) - 9 semester hours (See footnote * below)
- Gen Ed - Arts & Humanities (4 classes) - 12 semester hours (See footnote * below)
- WEL 100 & 100L
Global Requirement
* Global Requirement: depending on your selection, this requirement will satisfy 3 hours of either Social Science or Arts & Humanities requirements. Take 1 course from AIS/HIST 257, ANTH 210, ARTH 211/212/251, ENGL 211/212, GEOG 210, HIST 121/122/153, HUM 100, MCOM 151, POLS 141/250. Note
A minor is NOT required with this major but electives are required to total 120 hours, of which 36 hours must be 300-400 level courses. |
