The Basic Instruction Program - The Division of Physical Education and Health provides a variety of opportunities to develop skill and personal health-related fitness in both traditional and nontraditional activities and sports. Physical Education majors and minors must complete the Activity Placement Test in PE 180 and remediate weaknesses prior to admittance to Professional Preparation: Skills Concepts Lecture and Lab. This test is offered through the Foundations of HPER class (PE 180).
The Physical Education Major, accompanied by the optional Health Endorsement, integrates the teacher certification requirements for physical education and health education, enabling students to teach both subject areas, K-12 grades. Students entering the major must complete an activity placement test (skill and knowledge) and remediate weaknesses prior to admittance to the core courses.
Two semester hours in health-fitness, Wellness for Life/Lab, WEL 100/L, are mandatory for all students enrolled at BHSU. Students who have successfully completed Military Basic Training can take their DD-214 to the Registrar’s Office and receive 4 hours of credit for WEL 100, WEL 100L, HLTH 251, & PE 100.
The drop/add deadline for classes taught in the 5-week blocks shall be the day following the first class meeting.
