SPED 453 - Introduction to Autism Spectrum DisordersUnique Course This course provides an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) across the lifespan - from infancy through adulthood. This includes an historical view of ASD, characteristics of individuals with the diagnosis, legal implications, and the impact on families. This course also provides an in-depth look at different behavioral and educational strategies that guide the instruction of students with ASD. Lo-tech and hi-tech assistive technology strategies will also be addressed. Future educators will gain an understanding of key concepts related to the education of, and lifelong considerations for, individuals with ASD.
