  • MUS 345 - Vocal Pedagogy and Literature

    Unique Course
    A course designed to help students gain a better understanding of the vocal mechanism, its physiology and correct usage. Students will study the basic techniques of singing and methods for the teaching of singing. Topics such as acoustics, breathing, registration, resonance, vowels, articulation and the developing voice will be explored. In addition, students will survey the Art Song with an emphasis on song literature particularly suitable for school age pupils.

    Includes directed study, problems, readings, directed readings, special problems and special projects. Students complete individualized plans of study which include significant one-on-one student-teacher involvement. The faculty member and students negotiate the details of the study plans. Enrollments are usually 10 or fewer students. Meetings depending upon the requirements of the topic.

    Unique Course
    This course provides students the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, teach, and evaluate quality environmental education.  Students discuss the history, definition, and goals of environmental education and develop an understanding of the professional roles and instructional methods.  Students become trained in nationally recognized environmental education curricula and apply course content through outdoor teaching experience.

    This course helps students explore principles and techniques for interpreting controversial environmental issues at parks, recreation areas, museums, and other settings. Aligned with national certification criteria.  This is a writing intensive course.
